THE STORY OF BANJARMANGU

Once upon a time in the Great Hall of Mataram there was Pisoanan Agung. The king sent Hulu Balang, who had the title of Raden Sam Hoong, to follow the war against the Dutch colonial army. Raden Sam Hoong undertook it.
Together with Mataram troops, Raden Sam Hoong could defeat the Dutch army. After the war, Raden Sam Hoong continued the da'wah of Islam. Arriving in one place that was still foreign, Raden Sam Hoong met and studied Islamic knowledge to one named Ki Ageng Kemuning who already had a student named Mbah Brontok. Ki Ageng Kemuning then established padepokan (residence) which had 5 students, namely:
1.       Mbah Brontok
2.       Raden Sam Hoong
3.       Raden Nambangan
4.       Raden Aji
5.       Nyai Pandan Sari
Five people were living in harmony in the padepokan while spreading da'wah Islam. Over time Raden Sam Hoong well-known and more respected, because of his kindness and honesty. It made envy of his colleagues, especially Mbah Brontok.
Mbah Brontok invited Raden Sam Hoong to fought cocks at the edge of the river. Unfortunatey, Mbah Brontok’s cock could be defeated by Raden Sam Hoong’s cock. It made Mbah Brontok more envy with him. Mbah Brontok had a cunning plan to defeat Raden Sam Hoong. However  the plan was known by Raden Aji.
One day, Mbah Brontok challenged Raden Sam Hoong to compete their magic. Humbly, Raden Sam Hoong refused because he did not want to cause hostility. Knowing that, Mbah Brontok insulted and disfigured Raden Sam Hoong. However, Raden Sam Hoong was not provoked, even Raden Aji who was angry because he knew the cunning plan of Mbah Brontok. On another occasion, Raden Aji accepted the challenge of Mbah Brontok to replace Raden Sam Hoong.
The magic competition happened near the river Sumek. Raden Aji and Mbah Brontok killed each other, their blood flowed everywhere or the Javanese called it Banjaran. Then the place was named with BANJARMANGU which meant that the flowing blood made a lot of people astonished (termangu) because the brothers were hostile until they killed each other.

Trip to Kebumen

After I have been graduated from Senior High School, I felt so bored before going to any university. So I invited my friends to go somewhere for holiday. I called my friends through the group account on messenger application. Unfortunately most of them could not join because of some reasons. Only five people could join, included me. We decided to go to Kebumen.
We left on June, 2nd 2016 at 7.30 am. We went by car. On the way to Kebumen, one of my friends vomited, perhaps because of the extreme road if from Banjarnegara. The first place we visited was Sempor reservoir. We arrived there at 9.30 am. Because two of us had not breakfast, they having breakfast first while the others went to the reservoir. We took some pictures there. At 10 o’clock we continued to the other places.
The second place was Jatijajar cave. Before we went into the cave, we bought the ticket first. The price was Rp 7.500 per person. We got in the cave and walked around. Inside the cave there were a lot of statues. We also took some pictures there. Actually there were so many special souvenir from Jatijajar cave, but we did not interest to buy some. After we felt satisfied, we went to Logending beach. We did not take a long time there. We directly went to Menganti beach. Because we arrived there coincide the time to pray Dzuhur, we prayed first before having lunch. We had lunch while enjoying the view of the beach. Of course we took some pictures again there, to keep the memories. At 1 o’clock we continued to Van Der Wijck bastion. However, when we arrived there and we looked at the ticket price, we decided to go back home because the price was expensive. So we went back home and arrived at 3.30 pm.
I was really happy although I felt so tired. I did not regret this trip because I visited the great places to visit. I hope I could visit the other great places in the other cities in Indonesia or even in the other countries.
